Friendship
This year in Room 11, we have met people who have become good friends. As the year comes to an end, we will have to say goodbye. The Year Sixes are going to different schools, leaving the Year Fives behind. Even though the Year Sixes will miss their friends, they will find new friends. In Room 11, we have had dramas, tears and loads of 'lols'. Without our friends, Room 11 wouldn't be so enjoyable. We have become very close with people that we did not know very well. The Odessey was a great way to work together and build trust with each other. Over the year, we have worked out that it's not where you are its who your with. Everyone in Room 11 has special qualities that we all respect. Some are funny, some are artistic, some are kind and caring but we know that everyone is different.

What did I enjoy at Camp Bentzon on Kawau Island and why did I enjoy it?
I enjoyed Camp Bentzon because I did lots of fishing and I enjoyed the confidence course.
My favourite bit was sailing. That was the best course in camp because it was a lot of fun. It taught you how to sail.
I enjoyed fishing because its really a lot of fun. We saw stingrays. Paora and I caught the biggest fish on the camp. It was 26cm long and it was fun. That's my amazing time at camp.

SOLAR ECLIPSE!!!
On Wednesday the 14th of November, Room 18 was lucky enough to watch the solar eclipse.
We were on the athletics' track and Brooke looked up and saw that we could see the eclipse through the clouds, without it hurting our eyes. When we got back to class we saw that Mr Thornton had set up some binoculars for us. We also looked through some glasses with solar lenses and Olivia and Ella thought it looked quite spectacular. The sun was blue when you looked through the glasses at it! A solar eclipse is when the moon crosses in between the sun and the earth. We got a special visitor in our class whose name was Miss Dr Emett. She studies astronomy and scientific matters in Australia. She told us that she was watching the solar eclipse in Whangarei, because it was one of the best viewing places in the world. Wow! We are so lucky to have watched this because the next good one viewed in Whangarei is not expected to happen for 80 years! So our class is very lucky to have viewed this!!!

Aladdin Production
This week is a very busy week because the senior syndicate is doing four performances of their production, Aladdin. We are performing in the Riverbank Theatre. We must be very popular because all the tickets are sold out. Ella said that it is exciting performing on stage in front of a large crowd. We are very privileged to have Ms. Fisher as our director this year. She has been so good to us. Caitlin said that Ms. Fisher has been very fair in distributing the parts. She has kindly spread out the parts across the whole syndicate so there are five Aladdins, four Gingers, five Sultans ect. We must give a very big thank you to Ms Fisher for giving her time to us for a great production.
