SOLAR ECLIPSE!!!

On Wednesday the 14th of November,  Room 18 was lucky enough to watch the solar eclipse.
We were on the athletics' track and Brooke looked up and saw that we could see the eclipse through the clouds, without it hurting our eyes. When we got back to class we saw that Mr Thornton had set up some binoculars for us. We also looked through some glasses with solar lenses and Olivia and Ella thought it looked quite spectacular. The sun was blue when you looked through the glasses at it! A solar eclipse is when the moon crosses in between the sun and the earth. We got a special visitor in our class whose name was Miss Dr Emett. She studies astronomy and scientific matters in Australia. She told us that she was watching the solar eclipse in Whangarei, because it was one of the best viewing places in the world. Wow! We are so lucky to have watched this because the next good one viewed in Whangarei is not expected to happen for 80 years! So our class is very lucky to have viewed this!!!

Aladdin Production

This week is a very busy week because the senior syndicate is doing four performances of their production, Aladdin. We are performing in the Riverbank Theatre. We must be very popular because all the tickets are sold out. Ella said that it is exciting performing on stage in front of a large crowd. We are very privileged to have Ms. Fisher as our director this year. She has been so good to us. Caitlin said that Ms. Fisher has been very fair in distributing the parts. She has kindly spread out the parts across the whole syndicate so there are five Aladdins, four Gingers, five Sultans ect. We must give a very big thank you to Ms Fisher for giving her time to us for a great production.
