Paper Making With Mrs. Cutforth!!!

During Term 3 Room 18 had a lesson of paper making with Mrs. Cutforth. Each person in the class had their own paper to make. Some people decorated their paper with flower pedals and put scents on it. In the end we heard of the earthquake in Christchurch, so we decided to make cards for some students at St. Pauls school in Christchurch. The school was nearly teared apart. We were going to make invitations for our senior school production, but then the earthquake happened. We had a lot of fun making the paper/cards with Mrs. Cutforth.

There is this little saying that Mrs. Cutforth says for when you are scooping up your mulch with the mould and decal. It's pinch it like a crab, swoop down, catch the wave and bring it straight up like a breakfast tray do the hokey pokey, but not too much and tilt to the side until all the access water has drained out. Then we put the paper on the couching board and we grabbed the sponges then dabbed them on the wet paper to soak up any left over water. Straight after that we put the wet paper on a piece of material to dry for a couple of days. The final step was to make beautiful cards for the St Paul's School pupils.

We hope that they loved the cards and it made them all feel better with our Mary MacKillop messages inside.
